Form in Motion

Through movement, athletes often find themselves in a state of hyperfocus where senses take control and surrounding distractions fade away. This connection between an athlete’s body and brain is precise and undisrupted. With each action fluidly directed and received, a seamless perception of the motion is found. Though, from the eye of a spectator, each movement subsists as a whole without the opportunity to discern one piece from another before the moment has passed. Through the use of alternative sports photographic techniques, each image displays the energy of movement, and yet the solitary element of focus within the athlete. The static nature of the images allows for an appreciation of the diverse capabilities of the human body, and their beauty. It is here, through the camera’s unique ability to isolate space and time, that a story is told of things only the athlete knows.
